We recommend selling into policy-inspired rallies. It seems increasingly difficult for policymakers to achieve the material impact of their prior interventions. Conventional tools are exhausted, and there are growing barriers to more unconventional policy options. We are increasingly inclined to make developed-market recession our investment base case. We may hope that recession can be avoided, but hope is not an investment strategy.
